Description

A family in Benachity, Durgapur is looking for a full time live in cook to prepare meals for three people. The work is cooking only, with three meals a day, and extra meals whenever guests visit. Cleaning and washing up are handled by separate house staff, so the cook is responsible for the kitchen work alone. Strong knowledge of Bengali cooking is essential, and the candidate should be able to prepare at least twenty Bengali dishes along with all the everyday basics confidently. Free food and accommodation are provided along with the salary, and staying at the house is required as this is a live in position. Candidates from any part of India can apply as long as they can cook Bengali food well.

Daily Work

The cook will prepare three meals a day for a family of three. When guests visit, extra meals may be needed at short notice, so flexibility with timings is expected. Occasionally the cook may need to pick up groceries, vegetables or ration from nearby shops, all of which are close to the house. No long distance travel is involved.

Cooking Requirements

Bengali cooking is the main requirement. The candidate should be confident with at least twenty Bengali dishes and should also know all the everyday basics such as rice, dal, sabzi, roti and common curries. Home style cooking matters more than restaurant style presentation.

What Is Not Included

This is a cooking role only. House cleaning, sweeping, mopping and washing utensils are handled by separate staff. The cook is responsible for kitchen work and keeping the cooking area in order.

Salary and Growth

The salary range is 18000 to 25000 per month depending on cooking skill and experience. Food and accommodation are provided free of cost on top of the salary. A candidate who cooks well can expect a bonus and a salary increase over time.

Who Should Apply
